World Environment Day at Vareš Primary School: Fostering Awareness Through Education, Creativity, and Play
The Adriatic Foundation, in partnership with the students and teachers of Vareš Primary School, implemented a creative project that seamlessly combined learning, play, and environmental responsibility in an engaging and meaningful way.
Through a series of thoughtfully planned activities, the school was transformed into an inspiring space that encourages everyday reflection on the importance of protecting the environment:
- Eco-messages now line the school staircase, turning each step into a reminder that even the smallest actions can lead us toward a healthier planet.
- The school hallway has been brightened with motivational quotes and illustrations, promoting a sense of responsibility, solidarity, and care for nature.
- The schoolyard has been reimagined as a colorful learning and play zone, featuring painted activity paths, mazes, and hopscotch games. These elements are designed to encourage physical activity while helping the youngest students connect with environmental themes through movement and interaction.
This project empowered students to become more than just observers — they took an active role in creating positive change. They learned that environmental care starts with everyday actions, in familiar spaces like their schoolyard, classroom, and community.
